Dr. Burke is the principal investigator in research projects with major laser companies including: Cynosure; Erchonia; Quanta; and Astanza. Landmark studies completed include use of the Quanta laser for tattoo removal using a 3 week treatments interval. This study was of importance since varying intervals between each laser treatment (including 4, 6, and 8 weeks between treatments) have been used and recommended even though there is no actual science indicating which is safest. Often those who ” regret their tattoo” want it erased or faded, preferring that it be done as fast as possible. This study demonstrated significant time savings using this interval. Tattoo removal was shortened by up to 63% with no adverse effects.

His research findings “Permanent tattoo removal using a Ruby laser with a unique oval beam for removal of resistant green and blue colors” (Astanza laser) were presented at the AACS annual scientific meeting in Ft.Lauderdale, Florida.
